2026 Fire Code Fee Schedule (effective 2/14/2026)

The San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department is committed to providing high-quality fire prevention, life safety, and new construction services that protect our community. As part of this commitment, the Department recently completed a comprehensive fee study conducted by an independent, third-party consultant to ensure that our fees accurately reflect the actual cost of delivering these services.

It has been more than five years since the Department last conducted a comprehensive fee study. Based on the findings of the current study, most fees will increase by approximately 25%. In some cases, fees will increase by more than double to fully recover the costs associated with providing these essential services.

The updated fee schedule was approved by the Fire Board on December 16, 2025, and will take effect on February 14, 2026. The complete Fee Schedule is available on the Department’s website for your reference.

These updates will help ensure the long-term sustainability of our fire prevention and life safety programs while maintaining the high level of service our community expects and deserves.
